Spring '23
Our Spring Collection is inspired by my mother-in-law and muse, Janet MacPherson, who we lost this past year. Janet was the impetus behind Lingua Franca - she surfed in cashmere before the wetsuit was invented, and it was one of her well-worn and much-loved sweaters that I first embroidered while lying around our Montauk house years ago.
There were so many Janets: single mother, surrogate father, champion surfer, Mexican, entrepreneur, a snob who didn't like snobs, trailblazer, and the list goes on. Her story spans so many times and places. This collection draws on 1970s Malibu, where Janet held court and built so many iconic memories. I adored her from the first time we met, and I will always be in awe of her outlaw spirit. I know she'll inspire you too.
