There's a lot going on. Let's get right to it! First, we have a new addition to our store. How adorable are these RBG dolls hand-made by our friend Jennifer Vallez at Sophie & Lili? They are available in-store only (sorry guys!) and $25. And, they are helping to kick off a BIG DEAL collaboration we just launched with the film "On the Basis of Sex" coming out Christmas Day! More on that next week, but go here to start shopping!!!
We've totally caught the Holiday Bug! (We just opened a store on adorable Bleecker Street - can you blame us?). Did you catch our new Holiday window display? It was done by the elves working for my friend Bronson Van Wyck. They are GENIUS!!!
Speaking of catching the Holiday bug, we recently hosted our friends from Rare Origin in our store for a one-day-only holiday shopping event. Their designs are truly stunning, and the mother/daughter trio are a JOY to hang with. They decorated our space with these amazing headpieces and brought along with a new special earring we collaborated on. It's called the Super Diva. Any ideas on who inspired it? Read all about this collaboration here.
This past Thursday, I also had the pleasure of getting to introduce Cynthia Nixon and Jumaane Williams on stage (yikes!) at the Alliance for Quality Education's annual Gala. You guys - it's the real deal. My friend Zakiyah (a member of the Resistance Revival Chorus) helped start it and it is helping NY provide quality public school education to all children - independent of zip code. I'm a proud supporter and you can go HERE to learn more.
And, because Zakiyah's on my mind, here's an invitation to a really cool event that you should try to go to if you're in NYC. The Resistance Revival Chorus is hosting their Holiday Party this coming Wednesday at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Tickets are only $20 and all proceeds benefit the National Bailout's Black Mama Fund. NOT TO BE MISSED!!!
And now, a couple of "cultural items" you might want to hear about:
Did you see our big profile in the NYTimes Style section this week? It's about the return of Bleecker Street. Also, the Cut did their own hysterical take on their ideas for the new Bleecker Street.
"Living Coral" is the 2019 Pantone color of the year. I love this illustrated guide for how this was chosen.
I started watching "YOU" on Lifetime and omg it's ADDICTING!! Who else is watching it?
Here is a list of the best art of 2018.
Nothing Is Lost by Ingrid Sischy arrived in my mailbox and I squealed with joy. Ingrid was our neighbor and friend and I can't wait to dive into this!
My skin gets so dry and this season I've found a new trick for my face! I've started only washing with cleansing oil. Here's my favorite. It's a game-changer, as is this oil. It's really worth the price tag.
Art enthusiasts are in Miami for Art Basel right now. I am so proud of my friend Casey Fremont who heads up Art Production Fund and just produced this mega fantastic carousel with Raúl de Nieves.
People I'm obsessed with who I can't believe are fans of our sweaters part 1 (Rachel Brosnahan), and part 2 (Misty Copeland). I mean... I can't!
Finally! What are you guys up to this weekend? Today I'm going to see the Nutcracker with my boys and tomorrow we are celebrating my son's 7th birthday - his "golden" birthday! 7 on the 7th. If you're looking for something fun to do today, my friend Andrea will be at Eataly in Flatiron all day today hosting a "Holiday Market." She's going to be serving up Panettone and making custom gift sets to buy! Also! stop by your local DVF store! They will be celebrating our recent collaboration and offering free monogramming on our sweaters!
