Crazy Quilt Dress

The print on this Molly dress was engineered from Patchwork Quilt, a 1937 watercolor and graphite study by American artist Edith Towner, held in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Towner's original is a close study of a classic crazy quilt, a joyful composition of mismatched patches stitched together freehand and scattered with painted poppies, a fluttering butterfly, and trailing vines. We reimagined a drawing of the work, discovered in a historical reference book, into the all-over print you see here.
