Eight years ago, we shot our first “It Takes a Village” campaign to celebrate Mother’s Day. My boys are now teenagers, and it felt like the right moment to revisit it, this time with a group of incredible New York moms I know who are living full, vibrant lives while raising children.

They’re busy, engaged, chic, and somehow still make it all look effortless. What I love most is the connection between us. We don’t see each other nearly as often as we’d like, but when we do, there’s an instant understanding, a shared language that comes from navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood alongside everything else.

Shot by Sophie Elgort in my village, the West Village. a mom of three, the project also came full circle in the best way, we photographed Yumi Matsuo and her children, who was actually the photographer on our very first shoot.
